MobileApp:Configuring ARIS Bluetooth functionality
ARIS is prepared to be coupled with the Mobile App. However, this feature is initially disabled. Thus, to be able to use it, it first needs to be enabled through the corresponding system parameter, and then properly configured.
Enabling Bluetooth[edit]
It is crucial to remember that the system has three different roles with different and complementary functionalities. The one that can use the Bluetooth functionality is the Laboratory Technician. However, the one that makes it available is the System Administrator.
Thus, just after installing ARIS, the Laboratory Technician cannot see the Bluetooth icon in the top right corner. To enable this functionality, the System Administrator has to log in and navigate to Parameters tab under Technical Configuration. The bluetooth_enabler should be located in the list of parameters. By clicking on it, we will be able to change its value from Disabled to Enabled. Doing this immediately triggers the downloading of the neural network that allows to analyze images. Notice that an Internet connection should be available to allow it. The better the connection, the faster it will download. In a reasonably good Internet connection, it should take approximately one minute. To avoid hanging forever, a timeout has been set to four minutes. Take into account that, in case of failure during the downloading process of the neural network, the bluetooth_enabler parameter will remain Disabled.
After successfully finishing the download, we can log in as Laboratory Technician to see that the corresponding icon is already visible.
Configuring an automatic kind of test[edit]
Again, we should remember that the system has three different roles with different and complementary functionalities. In this case, the one that indicates that a kind of test is automatic (i.e., is done using the Mobile App) is the Laboratory Supervisor. However, the one that makes this possible, in the same way as before, is the System Administrator.
Thus, just after installing ARIS, there is not any kind of test which is automatic, and not even the option to indicate it so is available. The same procedure that enables the Bluetooth (i.e., changing the bluetooth_enabler system parameter) enables this possibility. Notice that if the neural network was already downloaded, it will not happen again.
Only after the System Administrator enables the Bluetooth and the Laboratory Supervisor has defined a kind of test as automatic, the Laboratory Technician can create requests for this kind of test.
Upgrading the neural network[edit]
The upgrading of the neural network works similar to the upgrading of ARIS itself. Thus, you will only need an Internet connection. Once you are connected to the Internet, if a new version of the neural network for image recognition is available, the next time that you open the application the upgrading process will automatically start.
